The Lifeline subscription service for schools is now in its ninth year. We recognise that ICT resources and expertise vary from school to school and have developed our support service to address your individual needs. Some schools have asked if we could arrange regular visits alongside our existing flexible support scheme. In response to this we are introducing a new service consisting of pre-planned visits over the membership year. You may use this support instead of or alongside the traditional flexible Lifeline time. Lifeline subscribers may opt for either or both of these schemes.
COMPREHENSIVE and expert advice, support and training on networked and standalone computers.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT On most occasions you will be able to access help immediately via a telephone helpline or alternatively send an email outlining the problem. If help is not immediately available you will be contacted within 24 hours. If the problem cannot be solved over the phone, a call out visit will be arranged as soon as possible. You are entitled to one call out visit for every five hours of support that you have purchased.
CONSULTANCY VISIT a one hour visit to discuss your current needs etc.
DISCOUNTS ON COURSES run by Lexicon Lifeline.
SOFTWARE DISCOUNTS to enable Lifeline members to obtain discounts directly on a range of quality Acorn, Apple and PC software from leading educational software companies.
REGULAR NEWSLETTERS to keep you up to date with issues appropriate to ICT to support the curriculum
GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT on Virus protection
ADDITIONAL TIME when spending e-Learning Credits through us. An hour of support time is allocated for every £500 spent.
This is a continuation of our existing scheme.
It allows you to decide how best to invest time in ICT support depending upon your stage of ICT development, and gives you peace of mind that your hardware will be utilised effectively and that you are being kept up to date with ICT issues.
You may decide to use your support time for such things as:
consultancy, giving you the
opportunity to discuss a range of ICT solutions in order to decide which
would be the most appropriate for you, so maximising the benefits any
funding that you receive,
guidance and assistance in
writing an ICT development plan, policy, scheme of work and/or action plan,
staff development days or
series of after school sessions designed to meet your school's ICT
requirements,
training of teachers, classroom
assistants or parent helpers to give them the confidence to support the use
of ICT in the classroom,
a troubleshooting session to
ensure that all of your ICT resources are operating efficiently,
a Parent/Governors evening
workshop to familiarise them with the issues surrounding ICT in school and
an opportunity to explore the programs that pupils use,
publishing - this could include
guidance and help in the use of DTP for school brochures, website creation
and intranet construction.
This list is not exclusive and you are more than welcome to discuss your requirements with us if they are not included above.
This scheme gives the school a schedule of regular visits. The minimum length of a single visit is two hours. Visits may be on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly timing based on 11 monthly visits per academic year. A number of hours per month are purchased and the dates and times are booked at the beginning of the subscription year. Extra visits can be arranged. Membership of both schemes may be advantageous.
Visits cover such things as:
installation and setting up of
hardware and software
network management and
technical support
help with projects such as
creating and maintaining a website or intranet.
This list is not exclusive and you are more than welcome to discuss your requirements with us if they are not included above.
